This is an exceptional example and has little to no visible signs of being worn.

For additional peace of mind, we have serviced this watch and checked the regulation – need less to say it is running like a dream and is in our opinion impossible to find an example of this period in such condition.

And of course, it goes without saying, but our usual returns and guarantee of authenticity policy applies.

Since its introduction in 1957, the Omega Speedmaster Chronograph has been characterized by its precision timing and clean, legible dial. Chronographs were originally built and advertised as tools for engineers, technicians, doctors and athletes – a way of keeping seconds, much like a stopwatch – which made them less appealing as men’s casual wear. However, these qualities made the Speedmaster the perfect watch for marking some of mankind’s greatest achievements – including the first successful trip to the Moon.

July 21st, 1969 marked one the most famous days in history as Apollo 11 safely landed on the moon. A mere six hours after landing, commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin took the very first human steps on the Moon’s lunar surface while wearing a NASA issued Speedmaster.

From that point onwards the Speedmaster earned the nickname the “Moon Watch” after Apollo 11 and during the following six lunar landings by American astronauts. It gained worldwide recognition and was even worn during the Apollo and Soyuz docking by both American and Soviet Union astronauts. In fact, the Omega Speedmaster Chronograph has been the only piece of equipment used in all of NASA’s space exploration from Gemini to the International Space Station program.

Condition

All watches are categorised as brand new, preloved and so on. Vintage watches are shown as they are. For new watches we use some manufacturers' promotional pictures, but any limited edition numbers shown are those of the actual watch.

What we do and don't do

Each watch is fully inspected and is working as it should: hands turn freely, the date changes where fitted, and the watch winds. To bring you great prices we do not service every watch, and we recommend you do so regularly to keep it in good working order.

We bench test each watch for timekeeping and accept a tolerance of two minutes either way. If you have any concerns we are happy to send you a TIMEGRAPH reading with a picture of your watch in test. Some of the more expensive watches have been serviced by third party specialists, and where that is the case the service record is supplied with the watch and shown on the product page.

Watches are not tested for functionality and timekeeping over longer periods of time. For this reason, long-term performance is excluded from our warranty once the returns window has closed. This does not affect your statutory rights.

We aim to supply vintage watches in the best possible condition, but some wear must be expected due to age. This is shown in the pictures supplied. Please ask if you would like more pictures of any particular feature.
